The Oberlin Public Water System receives its water from a series of wells located in the City and Decatur County. Prior to distribution, water from the wells is softened and treated to remove Nitrate, Arsenic, and Uranium.
Following treatment, water is disinfected using chlorine. Water from the plant is distributed to the 1780 residents through 1200 service connections supplied by multiple pumping stations, one 750,000-gallon elevated storage tank,
The Water System employs three licensed water operators and a billing clerk, is governed by the City Council, and is under the management of the City Administrator and Utility Director.
